(250-500) AD
After the descent of Satvahanas Vakataka rose to power.

Rulers
1. Pravarsena-I
He laid the foundation of Vakataka empire in Chhattisgarh.
The kingdom covered the whole part of the Chhattisgarh. According to Dr.
Mirashi, Vakataka King Pravarsena-I won the area of Dakshin Kosal and captured
the area. After his death, the Gupta dynasty took over the reign of Vakataka.
2. Narendra Sen
Narendra Sen very soon took over the sovereignty of the lost
empire by his father. According to the Balaghat Copper-plate engravings of King
Prithvisen-II, Narendra Sen won the Kingdom of Malwa and Maikal. Narendra Sen
also had a battle with the Nal King of Koraput where Bhavdant Verman defeated
him. The information on this battle was found from the Siddhipur inscriptions.
3. Prithvi Sen-II
Prithvi Sen defeated Arthapati who was the son of Bhavdant
Verman.
4. Harisen
After the defeat of Arthapati, Harisen the King of
Vatsagulam which was a branch of Vakataka in the South attacked and won Dakshin
Kosal. During his time Vakataka Kingdom was at its pinnacle.
5. Pravarsena-II
During his time the Kalidasa, the court poet of Chandragupta-II
came to Chhattisgarh and in Ramgarh caves wrote his famous work Meghdoot.
Gupta Dynasty
Samudragupta was a strong King who followed the policy of
expansion whereby he defeated the King of Dakshin Kosal Mahendra Verman
(Sharabhpuri King) and Mahkantar King Vyaghraj (Nal King).
Banabarad a town in Durg district - 9 Gupta's coins were
found in 1969. From these 9 coins, one was a coin made up of glass which is
resembled Ocean, 7 other coins are of Chandragupta-II, and one of Kumar Gupta.
Also, many coins were found from Bilaspur and Bastar. From Arang Kumargupta Silver coins were also
found.
Rajarshi Tulya Kingdom (Local dynasty of CG)
The period from - 5th
to 6th century.
Capital - Arang
The symbol on the currency - Lion (also the Kingdom's
symbol)
From the copperplate inscriptions of Bhimsena-II from Arang, it gives the information about the kingdom
of the Rajshri tulya dynasty in Chhattisgarh.
I) Shura
The first king of this dynasty. Also called as Shura dynasty
by his name. Information about this dynasty is received from 'Epigraphica
Indica' copperplate.
II) Bhimsena-II
Last king of this dynasty. The details about his rules were
found from the Arang copperplate of Bhimsena-II. He issued a copperplate from
the 'golden river'. The king's of this dynasty accepted the suzerainty of the
Gupta's.
Parvat Dwarak Dynasty
(local dynasty)
Area of kingdom lied in the southern Raipur now Gariaband. The
period of their rule was the 5th century. Somann Raj was the first King of this
dynasty.
This dynasty people worshipped 'Sthambheshvari Devi' whose place of existence was Parvatdwarak.
