Halba Revolt (1774-1779) AD

Reason- For Succession between Ajmer Singh and
Dariya/Dariyao Dev
Outcome- After the death of Ajmer Singh in 1777 AD, the
entire Halwa rebels were Killed
Paralkot Revolt (1825) AD
Ruler- Mahipal Dev
Leadership- Gend Singh (Palkot's
Zamindar)
Reasons- Foreign Invasions, levied heavy taxes, The individuality of Native tribe was at stake
Aim- To liberate Abhujmad from exploitation and plunder.
Symbol- Sprig of
Dhavada tree
Suppressor-

Consequences - Gend
Singh was hanged on 20 January 1825.
Gend Singh is said to be the first martyr of Bastar
Meria /Maria Revolt (1842-1863) AD
Ruler - Bhoopaldev/
Bhupaldev
Leadership- Hidma Manjhi
Reason- Against the abolition of the human sacrifice at the
Danteshwari temple.
Suppressor- Colonel Campbell
Outcome: On the orders of Vaman Rao, Sher Khan and his
counterparts did agitations against the tribal and local people, burned their
houses, and exploited them.
The person who was sacrificed in this ritual was called Mariya.
Tarapur Revolt (1842-1854)AD
Ruler- Bhupaldev
Leadership- Dalganjan Singh
Reason- Due to increasing Takoli (Yearly tax) by the British
in Tarapur Pargana.
Outcome- The order to
raise the tax was withdrawn.
Lingagiri Revolt (1856-1857)AD
Ruler- Bhairamdev
Leadership- Dhurvaram Maadhia
Reason- In protest against the incorporation of Bastar into
the English Empire.
Outcome- Dhurvaram
Maadhia was hanged on 5th March 1856
(Second martyr of Bastar)
Lingagiri Revolt is
known as the Great Battle of the liberation of Bastar
Koi Revolt (1859) AD
Ruler- Bhairamdev
Leadership- Nagul Dorla
(Zamindar) and Koi Tribe
Reason- to prevent cutting of Sal Tree by Britishers
Slogan- A head for A
tree
Outcome- The first revolt in
which the British were defeated.
The Zamindars, who were involved in the cutting of the trees
were known as Kois.

Reason- Autocracy Policy of the British and Appointment of
Diwan Gopinath Kapardar

Outcome- On 2 March 1876, Black Day was celebrated in Bastar.after
that on 8th March 1876, Mc George organized Muriya Court in Jagdalpur

Most powerful Revolt of Chhattisgarh

Started- On 1st Feb
1910 at Pushpal Bazar(Market)
Reason- 1. The exploitation of the people of Bastar by the
British.
2. Appointment of Baijnath panda as Diwan
3. Insult of Queen Swarna kunvar and Diwaan Lal Kalendra
Singh
Symbol- Red chili and
Twig of Mango tree
Suppressor- Captain Gayer
Last encounter- Between Rebels and Britishers at Alwar
Sonu Manjhi was an informant of the British, which led to the arrest of Gundadhur.
